They are a recommended upgrade for the hill climb at my meets, and if you've run it you'll know why. We haven't had any major issues yet, but there are bound to be some in the near future with the force that front bumper hits with. I personally run a steel skidplate, which looks like a buggy's front bumper and runs the length of the chassis. It's heavy, though, so you may wish to come up with a removable design. Either that, or stock up on bumpers ...
